What is reiki?

To quote the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT):

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.” (https://www.reiki.org/faqs/what-reiki)

Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive form of energy healing that promotes relaxation, balance, and overall well-being. It is compatible with existing therapeutic holistic, medical, and psychological treatments. A practice first founded in Japan by Mikao Usui, “reiki” constitutes two Japanese words, “rei” (universal/Spirit) and “ki” (life-force energy). Thus reiki translates to “universal life force energy”, and during my sessions I am channeling life-force energy through my hands to help clear energetic blockages, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural ability to heal. Reiki is a holistic approach that works the body’s energy system to facilitate emotional, physical, and spiritual harmony. Because energy does not conform to time or space, Distance Reiki is just as powerful as in-person sessions. Additionally, this lack of conformation to time allows us to work with healing the energy of past events and traumas, both in this lifetime and past lifetimes. Each session is uniquely tailored to your energetic needs.
